An example
Acme Watches builds a five-card gift guide carousel: one watch per card, each linking to its own product page, with a shop-all-gifts card at the end. A second carousel tells one story across its cards: the problem, the watch, a close-up, a review, the offer. The team tests both against its best single image.
Why it matters
Carousels let one ad do several jobs: show range, answer objections in order, or let people pick the item they like. The first card does most of the work, because many people never swipe, so it has to stand on its own like a static ad.
How to improve it
Make card one a complete ad by itself. Use later cards for the reasons to believe: detail shots, reviews, the offer. Keep a visual thread across cards so a swipe feels like one piece, and judge carousels against your best single image, not in isolation.
